Jack Ridder
Founder of KiwiBudget ยท Invercargill, New Zealand
Kia ora, I'm Jack. I build software from Invercargill, at the bottom of the South Island, and KiwiBudget is the thing I care about most: a budgeting app made properly for New Zealand, starting with the people who need it most, students.
KiwiBudget exists because the money tools students actually use were built for other countries. They don't know what StudyLink is, they can't read an NZ payslip, and they have no idea why your flat's power bill doubles in July. KiwiBudget does: it connects to NZ banks through Akahu, sorts your spending into categories that match real Kiwi life, and tells you the one number that matters: what you can actually spend until payday.
KiwiBudget is operated by KiwiBudget Limited, a New Zealand company owned by Bryder Holdings Ltd, and launches on 16 November 2026. I also write practical money guides for New Zealanders: tax codes, KiwiSaver, StudyLink, flatting costs, all of it on the KiwiBudget blog.
