Set up your KiwiBudget account
Create your account and personalise your budget in just a few minutes.
Setting up takes about two minutes, and the questions we ask are what make your budget yours rather than a generic template.
Create the account
- Go to kiwibudget.nz and tap "Create my account". Enter your name, email and a password (8 characters or more).
- Tick the "I am human" box and submit.
- Open the confirmation email and click the link, or type the 6 digit code from the email into the app.
- Your account is ready to go. Sign-in opens for everyone on 16 November and we email you that morning - same email, same password, nothing to redo.
The onboarding questions, and why we ask them
Your take-home pay, how often you get paid, and your last payday let the app run on YOUR pay cycle - so "left to spend" counts down to payday instead of the end of the month.
Your living situation and weekly rent or board give your budget its biggest line from day one.
Your biggest money stress helps the app (and the Money Coach on Pro) focus on what actually matters to you. No judgement - money in NZ is genuinely hard right now.
Change your answers later
Everything from onboarding can be updated in Settings. Your real bank income also refines the numbers automatically once transactions arrive.
